Kenny Atkinson Leader To Be Next Cavs Coach; Also Considering Johnnie Bryant
Golden State Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson is considered to be the leader to be the next Cleveland Cavaliers head coach. Atkinson worked with Cavaliers players Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert when he was the Brooklyn Nets head coach.
Another candidate to keep an eye on is New York Knicks assistant coach Johnnie Bryant. Bryant was an assistant with the Utah Jazz when current Cleveland guard Donovan Mitchell was there.
Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert is also reportedly more involved in hiring the team’s next head coach than originally anticipated. Gilbert has been heavily involved in the hiring process at other points during his tenure. However, Gilbert was relatively hands-off when Cleveland hired JB Bickerstaff as the full-time head coach four years ago.
