Kmart’s last full-scale store in New York to close its doors

LONG ISLAND (PIX11) – The last Kmart in New York will soon be closing its doors, the company announced.

The retailer has struggled to compete with retailers like Target and Walmart and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2002.

After the Kmart store on Long Island closes, there will be only a handful of stores in Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands and a small store in Miami.
