Knicks among teams ‘inquiring’ about .3 million former Sixth Man of the Year | Sporting News

The New York Knicks are trying to improve their roster between now and the February 6 trade deadline.

The Knicks are playing great basketball lately. They had won three straight entering Monday and held an 18-10 record, good for third place in the Eastern Conference.

That doesn’t mean New York is satisfied with its depth chart, however.

If the Knicks want to reach their first NBA Finals since 1999, they’ll likely have to overcome either the Boston Celtics or Cleveland Cavaliers in a playoff series.

And while New York’s defense will surely be tough as nails come playoff time under Tom Thibodeau, the Knicks will need an explosive offense to keep up with either of the above teams.

That’s why New York is looking to add a scorer before the deadline.

That latest player linked to the Knicks is a 32-year-old Utah Jazz guard who won NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2021.

“The Clippers, Knicks, Lakers and Nuggets are among contending teams who have inquired about Jordan Clarkson on the trade market,” Forbes’ Evan Sidery said on Monday.

“The Jazz are seeking a promising prospect and/or draft capital in exchange for Clarkson.”

Clarkson would give New York exactly the kind of offensive punch it needs to become a more complete basketball team.

But will the Knicks be able to snag Clarkson with so many other teams interested in his services?
