Knicks fans irate at Brian Windhorst supporting Paolo Banchero’s higher vote tally over Jalen Brunson: “Absolute hater”

Sports analyst Brian Windhorst expressed more fondness towards Paolo Banchero compared to New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson. During Friday’s episode of Windhorst’s podcast, the analyst was happy to know that Banchero is ahead of Brunson in terms of All-Star voting. His opinion had his co-hosts wondering why Brian felt that way.

Brian Windhorst’s co-hosts pointed out how Paolo Banchero hasn’t played all season due to injury. With that in mind, they said that Windhorst’s opinions are questionable given how Brunson has been readily available for New York all season.

New York Knicks fans on social media also found Windhorst’s comments baffling and think that the analyst is hating on Brunson. Here’s what some said on X:

“Absolute hater @WindhorstESPN”

“The bias against all things NY by the media has never been more fully on display. Brunson would be revered if he played for any other team. He’s incredibly likable & more relatable to the common fan than almost any other figure in sports. But he had the audacity to be a Knick.”

“Paolo played like 3 games this season it’s a disgrace,” one fan said.

Here are other reactions on X:

“This is a ridiculous take given the games played comparison. Paolo has played less than 5 full games whereas Brunson has lead playmaker on a contender. I love Paolo and he’s got a higher ceiling than Brunson but he’s also not even the level of player Jalen is at this point in his career,” one fan said.

“Goofy take cuz it’s undeserved. Bro missed 2 months of play already,” another fan said.

“JB is the most disrespected player in NBA history atp man,” one fan said.

The 2025 NBA All-Star voting has commenced and the association released the first wave of votes on Thursday. Looking at the amount of votes the New York Knicks stars received, Karl-Anthony Towns got 1,099,966 votes so far. It’s well-deserved, especially since he has been instrumental in supporting Jalen Brunson to lead their team to the top three of the Eastern Conference standings.

Considering how Towns received over a million votes, then Brunson should have a similar amount. However, that isn’t the case at all. Despite being New York’s leading scorer and arguably best player averaging 25.2 points, 7.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game, Brunson surprisingly received just 477,253 votes.
