Knicks predicted to acquire former No. 8 overall pick: ‘That bulldog mentality’ | Sporting News
The New York Knicks shouldn’t be hesitant on the trade market between now and February 6.
New York has a contention-worthy core, but one more piece would take the Knicks to a level where they could seriously challenge the Boston Celtics in a playoff series.
New York’s need for another center is real, which is why they’ve been linked to trade targets like Robert Williams III of the Portland Trail Blazers and Jonas Valančiūnas of the Washington Wizards.
The Knicks also need more scoring, though. That’s why Collin Sexton of the Utah Jazz would be a perfect fit if New York can pull off a deal.
On Tuesday, Fadeaway World’s Fran Leiva outlined what a Sexton deal would look like for the Knicks. New York would be sending Utah a package of Mitchell Robinson, Cam Payne, Tyler Kolek, and two second-rounders.
“Collin Sexton might just be the Knicks’ answer,” Leiva said.
“Sexton has been having a quietly strong season …. what sets Sexton apart isn’t just his scoring efficiency—it’s the fire he plays with. He’s got that bulldog mentality on the court: fearless on drives, relentless on defense, and always in attack mode. For a team like the Knicks, who thrive on grit and effort, Sexton could be the perfect spark to elevate their guard rotation.”
“For the Jazz, this deal adds depth across multiple positions while keeping an eye on the future with two valuable second-round picks. It’s not flashy, but if the Knicks want reliability and firepower in their backcourt, Sexton might just be their guy.”
