Knicks re-sign Precious Achiuwa
The Knicks have filled the hole left by Isaiah Hartenstein by re-signing Precious Achiuwa, the team announced Tuesday.
The deal is reportedly for one year, $6 million.
Achiuwa, 24, averaged 7.6 points on 52.5 percent from the field and 7.2 rebounds per game across 49 games (18 starts) for the Knicks last season. Achiuwa, of course, was dealt to the Knicks alongside OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors in early January.
After Hartenstein signed a multi-year deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder this offseason, the Knicks were in need of a backup center for Mitchell Robinson.
Though names were thrown around in reports, SNY’s Ian Begley reported the Knicks remained in regular contact with Achiuwa. Achiuwa had drawn interest from opposing teams, including some contenders, but the Nigerian native and New York came to an agreement on a contract that would bring him back to the Knicks.
