Knicks star Josh Hart rattles San Antonio Spurs fans ahead of Christmas game with soccer message, ‘not a coincidence’
One of the big games taking place in the NBA on Christmas Day sees the New York Knicks take on the San Antonio Spurs.
The 18-10 New York Knicks and the 15-13 San Antonio Spurs do battle on Christmas Day, with Karl-Anthony Towns and Victor Wembanyama going head-to-head in a clash of the big men.
One player who has put himself at the center of attention is Josh Hart, who found a way to rattle Spurs fans, intentional or not.
Josh Hart mocks Spurs
Josh Hart sent a message on December 22 mocking Spurs. Only he was talking about the soccer team, Tottenham Hotspur.
Hart’s message came amid Tottenham losing 6-3 at home to Liverpool in the Premier League.
But with Hart’s New York Knicks taking on the San Antonio Spurs later this week, some fans took his message the wrong way.
One fan responded: “Watch them whoop yo ass”, also posting a clown emoji
Another added: “You’re going to lose in Christmas. Lmao. Not like you’re a good player on that team anyways. We got role players out here putting targets on their teams back. I love it. Victor Wembanyama gonna destroy this man.”
A third responded: “We will see on Christmas,” and a further message adding: “Watch the Spurs win on Christmas at MSG lol.”
And another wrote: “Will come back to this when the Knicks blow it in the playoffs.”
Another response warned: “Wemby dropping 40-10-5-5 on the Knicks on Christmas day.”
A Knicks fan responded: “please don’t make us lose because of this tweet lol”
Another clocked that Hart may have been deliberately trolling, writing: “The timing of this tweet and the Knicks playing San Antonio on Xmas are not a coincidence.”
Josh Hart is a Chelsea fan
Josh Hart probably did know exactly what he was doing with his message, caring little which Spurs fans he upset.
Hart is Chelsea supporter, one of Tottenham Hotspur’s London rivals. He has even turned up for NBA games wearing Chelsea gear, and linked up with the team on their visits to the US.
Josh Hart will be keenly aware his Knicks team need to deliver against San Antonio on Christmas Day, or he can expect a few messages from gloating Spurs fans.
Probably both sets of them.
