Knicks vs 76ers Prediction and Picks for November 12 2024

The Philadelphia 76ers will host the New York Knicks for the NBA In-Season Tournament matchup on Tuesday at Wells Fargo Center. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The Sixers are 1.5-point spread favorites and the game total is 216.5 points scored.

New York (4-5 SU, 4-5 ATS and 5-4 O/U) lost 132-121 at Indiana on Sunday. The Knicks are 2-4 SU and ATS on the road this season.

Philadelphia (2-7 SU, 2-7 ATS and 5-4 O/U) beat Charlotte 107-105 in overtime on Sunday. The 76ers are 1-3 SU and 0-4 ATS at home.

The Knicks are 7-3 SU and 6-4 ATS in their last ten games against the 76ers, with four of those victories coming in the first round of last season’s Eastern Conference playoffs.

Knicks are struggling defensively

New York has dropped three of its last four games. The Knicks couldn’t stop the Pacers on Sunday in Indiana, allowing 132 points on 51 percent shooting. Indy was 21-for-46 (45.7%) from three-point range and 21-for-25 (84.0%) at the charity stripe. The Knicks shot 55 percent overall but were 7-for-25 (28.0%) from deep and committed 14 turnovers.

“They’re a great offensive team. And we gave up way too much,” NY coach Tom Thibodeau said. “We don’t challenge shots, they’re going to make. So too big of a discrepancy from the three-point line. They made 21, we made 7. That’s a problem. Our offense, we score 121 points, we shoot 55 (percent). We got to the line a lot. Outrebounded them. But we didn’t cover the 3-point line.”

While New York isn’t the only Eastern Conference team struggling right now, it’s been a disappointing start for a team that won 50 games last season and went all-in this offseason to advance further in the playoffs with the additions of Karl-Anthony Towns and Miklas Bridges.

Unfortunately, the roster moves have impacted the Knicks’ playing style, as they’re struggling to get offensive rebounds (24th) and have regressed defensively (26th in opponent eFG%), especially around the rim (29th in opponent rim FG%).

New York Knicks Injury Report: C Mitchell Robinson (ankle) and PF Precious Achiuwa (hamstring) are out. PG Cameron Payne (hamstring) is questionable to play in Tuesday’s NBA In-Season Tournament game versus Philadelphia.

Philadelphia is winless in regulation this season

Philadelphia snapped a five-game losing streak on Sunday versus Charlotte, as rookie guard Jared McCain had a career-high 27 points, including 23 in the second half and overtime. Forward Guerschon Yabusele also added a career-high 20 points for the 76ers, who have yet to win a game in regulation. Philly shot 46 percent from the floor and held Charlotte to 37 percent, but both teams shot under 30 percent from beyond the arc. The Sixers clunked 14 of their 15 three-point attempts in the first half, helping keep the Hornets stick around.

“He’s an incredible kid. He’s got no fear,” Yabusele remarked of McCain.

The Duke product rose to the occasion on Sunday for a Sixers team lacking scoring options. Paul George returned to action a few games ago after missing the start of the season, Joel Embiid has yet to suit up and Tyrese Maxey recently went down with a hamstring injury. That’s the trio Philadelphia leans on for the majority of its offense and playmaking, resulting in a poor start to the season.

The 76ers rank 19th in NET rating, including 17th in offensive rating and 13th in defensive rating, per Dunks and Threes. They rank 27th in eFG%, as they have struggled around the basket (30th in rim FG%) and from long-range (24th in 3PT%), making most of their shots from the mid-range. On the defensive end, Philly ranks 29th in opponent eFG%, as their opponents are shooting 66.9 percent at the rim (26th) and 37.8 percent from beyond the arc (28th).

Philadelphia 76ers Injury Report: PG Tyrese Maxey (hamstring) and C Joel Embiid (knee) are out for Tuesday’s NBA In-Season Tournament game against the Knicks.

Which of these NBA Atlantic Division rivals picks up the In-Season Tournament win? Find out more in this New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers prediction!

Betting Trend: The Knicks have hit the moneyline in 56 of their last 94 games (+10.65 units/5% ROI).

I’ll take New York’s side in Tuesday’s In-Season Tournament game at Philadelphia. Offensively, the Knicks should attack the 76ers at the rim and from beyond the arc. NY is shooting just under 40 percent from long range (3rd) and should have enough success in the paint against Philadelphia’s subpar interior defense. On the defensive end, the Knicks have enough stoppers to hold off a Sixers team missing their top two scorers from last season. Philly hasn’t shot the three-ball consistently enough to take advantage of New York’s below-average perimeter defense.

Prediction: Knicks ML

Rating:

Knicks vs. 76ers prediction: The under will cash at 216.5 total points.

I value a wager on the under in Tuesday’s New York vs. Philadelphia Atlantic Division rivalry game. These are two of the slowest-paced teams in the NBA, as the Knicks average the fewest possessions (96.0) per game, and the Sixers average the fifth-fewest (97.5). Neither team is coming into this matchup with much momentum, either. The Knicks could get hot from beyond the arc, but they rank just 14th in scoring despite their high shooting percentage from downtown. It will take a strong defensive effort for Philadelphia to keep this game close, which should lead to a tightly contested game.

Prediction: Under 216.5
