LeBron James named honorary chair of Met Gala with Lewis Hamilton as co-chair in New York
LeBron James has been named honorary chair of the 2025 Met Gala, with seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton among the co-chairs.
The Met Gala is widely seen as the most prestigious fashion event of the year and Hamilton will make his sixth appearance at the annual gala in Manhattan.
Next year’s gala on May 5 will be LeBron’s first appearance at the event.
The 39-year-old is the NBA’s all-time record points scorer and a 20-time All-Star.
He recently made NBA history when he and son Bronny James became the first ever father-son duo to play together on the same team when the Los Angeles Lakers took on the Phoenix Suns in a pre-season game at the weekend.
Hamilton is approaching the end of his stint at Mercedes in F1, with six races to go in the 2024 season.
The 39-year-old, who will join Ferrari next year, is the most successful F1 driver of all time with the most wins and pole positions, and is tied with Michael Schumacher on a joint-record seven world titles.
Hamilton and LeBron are both known for their love of fashion, with the pair showing off their flair for style before a race or match.
Hamilton will co-chair with actor Colman Domingo, singers and rappers A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams, plus editor-in-chief of Vogue Anna Wintour.
