Local freshman heads to the big apple for NYC Fashion Week

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Va. (WVVA) – Alyssa Keen is a freshman at Twin Valley High School.

She currently holds the title of Miss Teen Southern Virginia, and is set to walk the runaway in New York City for fashion week. Keen says she’ll have outfits made from two designers, one from Kentucky and one from Florida.

She began competing in pageants at a young age, and says she’s always had goals of one day modeling.

While keen has been in spotlight throughout her life so far, she says that she makes sure to stay true to herself.

“I’ve always been told that I can’t do something, or I don’t fit that perspective. But it’s really like, you can do anything you set your mind to, and I’m trying to prove that to other people,” said Keen.

Keen will be heading to New York City on September 5, and we will be taking a closer look when she returns from the big apple.
