LSU Football Alum Malik Nabers has incredible first day as a New York Giant
Friday marked the first day of New York Giants Rookie Minicamp meaning it was Malik Nabers first day on the job and it was certainly an action-packed day. The morning started with Nabers officially becoming an NFL player by signing his rookie contract which was worth $29 million fully guaranteed with a $18 million dollar signing bonus and a fifth year option.
Nabers revealed to the media that he bought his mother a house last week and what that meant to him:
“That was the most important thing in my life, having her have her own house and feel comfortable and not having to worry about bills to pay and know that her little boy did if for her.”
– Malik Nabers
He’d later take the field for the Giants in the minicamp portion of the day sporting the jersey number 9 which he called “temporary”. Nabers likely won’t wear number nine as it belongs to kicker Graham Gano who just changed uniform numbers the year prior for Kayvon Thibodeaux.
In the on-field portion of the day, Nabers was impressive as well showcasing his ability. Reporters praised Nabers’ route running, hands, and how smooth he looks as Nabers very well may enter the season as the team’s top receiver. He did reveal that he’s gotten some advice from fellow LSU alum Odell Beckham Jr on playing in New York and handling everything that comes along with it.
While we’ll see a ton of story’s about how Jayden Daniels performs at Commanders camp, the story’s around Malik Nabers will be abundant. The Giants haven’t had a receiving threat as capable and talented as Nabers in years and how effective he’ll be in the offense will dominate training camp. If Nabers can prove to be the same player at the NFL level, many in the media will be thrilled with Nabers fit in New York.
