Luka Doncic unleashes ‘motherf–ker’ taunt at fan as Mavericks punch NBA Finals ticket
Luka Doncic wasn’t having it when a courtside fan started trolling him during Game 5 in the Western Conference Finals against the Timberwolves at Target Center.
And the Mavericks star made sure to give it right back to the Minnesota supporter when he had the chance to rub it in.
On top of that, the Mavericks won, 124-103, on Thursday night to punch their ticket to face the Celtics in the NBA Finals next week as Doncic tied with Kyrie Irving with a game-high 36 points.
TNT cameras caught Doncic taunting a fan, who had reportedly been mocking him, after putting up a bucket and drawing a foul with the Mavericks up nearly 40 points in the third quarter.
“Yeah! Who’s crying, motherf–ker!” Doncic yelled toward a fan who was sitting behind the basket.
While the moment itself would have been memorable enough, several outlets — including the broadcast — thought that Doncic was yelling at rap legend Snoop Dogg, who was, coincidentally enough, seated behind the basket.
“And look he’s having words with Snoop right now,” Reggie Miller said on TNT. “Snoop appreciating the work being put in. He’s loving it.”
Play-by-play announcer Ian Eagle made reference to the Snoop again moments later with a highlight of the play being shown.
“Luka Doncic with a nice message to Snoop Dogg,” Eagle said. “Saying I’m glad you’re here and paid for those seats.”
Nevertheless, a video from the Washington Post’s Ben Golliver painted a clearer picture of whom Doncic was interacting with.
The video, seemingly from earlier in the game, showed a fan in a blue suit jacket making a crying gesture behind the net in the direction Doncic was looking.
Golliver also wrote on X that a “fan was waving a handkerchief at Luka Doncic early in the first quarter, apparently in reference to him crying for fouls.”
Doncic continued to look over at the fan following that, according to Golliver.
The superstar is sure to see a few more taunting fans in his future when the Finals begin in Boston on June 6.
