Luxury hot chocolate shop opens in York city centre
Chocolate café KNOOPS (pronounced ‘kuh–noops’) has opened this morning (December 6) in the old Boots Opticians in Parliament Street.
KNOOPS offers a fully customisable chocolate percent menu which allows visitors to select the components of their perfect hot chocolate, iced chocolate, and ice cream based milkshake.

There are more than 20 different chocolate percentages ranging from 28 per cent cocoa solids white chocolate right up to a rich 100 per cent extra dark – in addition to nine milk options, dairy free options, and more than 20 extra flavours including sea salt, orange zest, and chilli.
They also offer pastries and takeaway chocolate flakes, allowing people to remake their favourite drink as they’d like at home.
Previously, the closest location of the popular brand was in Leeds so this new addition means that residents will no longer need to travel for their chocolate kick.
KNOOPS CEO William Gordon-Harris said: “We’re thrilled to bring KNOOPS to York, a city renowned for its rich history and vibrant food scene. The opening of this store is another step in our journey to become the go-to brand for personalised chocolate drinks in the UK.”
Founder Jens Knoop added: “York’s historic charm and festive spirit make it the perfect location and time of year to open our newest store. As you explore the city’s enchanting Christmas markets and storied streets, savouring a cup of KNOOPS hot chocolate is the perfect way to add a touch of warmth and indulgence to your journey.”
The store will be open from 6.30am to 8pm from Monday to Friday and 7am to 8pm on Saturday and Sunday.
