These Big Apple sports teams dominate – in doping.
Both the NFL’s New York Giants and MLB’s New York Mets set the record for teams with the most suspended players and games due to drug violations since 2010 in their respective leagues, a new study found.
Over the past 14 seasons, 15 G-Men have dropped the ball by taking performance-enhancing drugs, costing the team $3 million in fines and 85 games where they lost a player to suspension, according to the Sportsbook Review, which did the analysis.
Eight doped-up Mets players were suspended a whopping 826 games total – and ran up $29 million in fines.
The New York Yankees – who have seen five players and 392 games suspended — amassed $25 million in drug-related fines.
The Yanks and the Mets are the only two major league franchises with more than $12 million in fines and salary forfeitures.
The New York Jets have seen seven players suspended for a total of 32 games, costing the team $1.5 million in fines and landing them in seventh place on Sportsbook’s list of “dirtiest” NFL teams.
Out of all NBA teams, the New York Knicks racked up the most fines — $3 million — from just one baller’s performance-enhancement, which also cost them a player in 20 games.
The Brooklyn Nets, who have seen one player and 25 games suspended for doping, have accrued nearly $600,000 in fines.
