Malik Nabers’ Concussion Leaves Giants’ Offense Vulnerable as They Prepare for Crucial Matchup Against Desperate Bengals in Week 6 | NFL News – Times of India

The New York Giants will once again miss out on yet another week with their rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, who is not to play in this Week 6 match against the Cincinnati Bengals. On Friday, the head coach of the team, Brian Daboll, made it official by ruling him out in writing in a response to the reporters following his concussion.

Nabers is Out for a Second Straight Game as a Result of a Concussion

Nabers suffered the concussion in Week 4 when the Giants played Dallas-where he was showing his level best before the injury. He’ll miss the Giants’ Week 5 game against the Seattle Seahawks and next try to clear concussion protocol before the Week 7 game between the Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles. His absence is felt not only in the passing game but also in the morale overall as the team seeks rhythm while the season winds on.

Nabers’ Performance Through the Early Games

Before the injury, Nabers left his mark, amassing 35 catches for 386 yards and three touchdowns in his first four games. His performance, however, contributed to establishing a starting role for him on the Giants’ offense in which he had delivered reliable hands and made crucial plays in high-pressure situations. As the team’s leading receiver in terms of yardage, he significantly contributes to keeping the Giants competitive. Of course, he has it all in becoming a future superstar in the league.

Giants Receivers Prepare to Take the Pressure Off

As Nabers would be sitting out for the Giants, Slayton, Eric Gray, and Wan’Dale Robinson would have to step forward to compensate for the services of the new rookie. In the win against the Seahawks, Slayton towered high with eight catches good for 122 yards and one touchdown. This skill to give the team the leading position in the receiving corps would highly be necessary as this side would have to maintain its speed on offense. Gray and Robinson are going to have to pick up their level of play for the Giants to be able to continue creating scoring opportunities.

Giants Look to Move to .500 for First Time This Season Against Struggling Bengals

New York will approach its game this Sunday night against the Bengals with a good opportunity to reach the point of .500, which might be the point of inflexion in the season. The two teams will very much be craving a win since the Bengals are at 1-4 and the Eagles come in at 2-5, trying to find their first win of this season. A win for either team would thus mean much-needed confidence and momentum building, which is something that the NFL sees as desperate because of its extreme competitiveness. Both teams will seize this chance.
