Malik Nabers injury update: Giants WR lands on team’s injury report ahead of Commanders clash with knee issue | Sporting News

Giants wideout Malik Nabers had a solid NFL debut, finishing with five catches for 66 yards in New York’s season-opening 28-6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

The 21-year-old might not have a chance to improve on those numbers in Week 2, however.

Nabers was listed on the Giants’ injury report during Thursday’s practice, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Here’s what you need to know about Nabers’ status ahead of New York’s clash with the Commanders on Sunday.

Malik Nabers injury update

Nabers was placed on the Giants’ injury report Thursday after being limited in practice. He sustained a knee injury, according to the team’s report.

Because Nabers was listed on the injury report following Thursday’s practice, the team will have to designate him as questionable, doubtful or fully available after Friday’s practice.

Nabers spoke to reporters following the conclusion of Thursday’s practice, but that was before the team’s injury report had surfaced. According to the New York Daily News’ Pat Leonard, some players came up to Nabers to ask him how he was doing while in the locker room.

Nabers took part in all 71 offensive snaps New York conducted last Sunday. He’s hoping to face off against Washington and its starting quarterback, Jayden Daniels. The two played alongside one another during the 2022 and 2023 seasons while at LSU.

In addition to Nabers, the Giants were plagued by injuries to other members of their team, too. Cornerback Nick McCloud (knee), linebacker Darius Muasau (knee) and receiver Gunnar Olswezksi (groin) were all held out of practice on Thursday.

Meanwhile, receiver Darius Slayton (concussion protocol) was upgraded from non-participant to limited participant.
