Malik Nabers, Jayden Daniels have K Rookie of the Year bet

Former LSU stars Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers are betting against each other ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

Daniels and Nabers have a $10,000 wager on who between them will win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award this season.

“Man, he wasn’t supposed to tell nobody,” Daniels said on the “All Facts No Breaks” podcast with Keyshawn Johnson. “We got a little something going on.”

There’s some question, however, whether this friendly bet between ex-teammates violates league gambling policies.

The NFL prohibits players and league personnel from “placing, soliciting or facilitating any bet, whether directly or through a third party” on its games or events, which includes wagers “between teammates, family and friends, or others.”

The pair are expected to go through the league’s rookie education program on its gambling policy during minicamps this week, which could ultimately determine the fate of Daniels and Nabers’ high-stakes contest.

Daniels, who the Commanders took with the No. 2 overall pick, and Nabers, the Giants’ selection at No. 6, will likely play big roles for their teams in Year 1.

Washington is expected to make Daniels its Week 1 starting quarterback while Nabers will slot in as Big Blue’s No. 1 wide receiver.

But oddsmakers don’t expect either player, despite their ambitious wager, to take home the OROY award.

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, one of the top prospects in recent NFL history, is a heavy favorite to win the award, sitting at +175 (DraftKings Sportsbook).

Betting on the NFL?

Daniels is tied with Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. with the second-best odds (+650) on DraftKings’ board.

Nabers is a little further down at +1400 – the fifth-best odds among all NFL rookies.
