Marquette’s Kolek headed to New York, Ighodaro to Phoenix in the NBA Draft

PORTLAND, Ore. (WSAW) – Two Marquette Golden Eagles are headed to the league. Tyler Kolek and Oso Ighodaro were both selected in the second round of the NBA Draft on Thursday by the Trail Blazers. However, after trades, Kolek is headed to the New York Knicks, while Ighodaro is going to the Phoenix Suns.

Kolek is headed to New York with the 34th pick of the draft. Kolek put together one of the most decorated careers in Marquette history. He was a two-time first-team All-Big East player. He left Marquette as the all-time leader in assists.

Ighodaro was a four-player at Marquette. He exploded on the scene in his junior year, helping Marquette win a regular season and a conference title in 2023. He is a two-time second-team All-Big East selection.

This past season, both players helped Marquette reach their first Sweet 16 since 2013. It’s the first time since 2012 that two Marquette players were selected in the same NBA Draft (Jae Crowder and Darius Johnson-Odom).
