Mass shooting outside nightclub in New York City leaves 10 dead, probe on – World News
At least 10 people were injured in a shooting outside the Amazura nightclub in Queens, New York, late Wednesday night, according to the New York City Police Department.
The incident occurred just before 11.20 pm near the Jamaica-based nightclub, which is known for hosting large-scale events with capacities of up to 4,000 people. Emergency responders transported the victims to nearby hospitals, including Long Island Jewish Hospital and Cohen’s Children Medical Center. Fortunately, none of the victims are reported to be in critical condition, and all are expected to recover, the NYPD confirmed.
Footage shared via the Citizen App revealed a significant police and ambulance presence outside the venue. The motive for the shooting remains unclear and law enforcement officials are investigating the incident.
This mass shooting follows a series of violent incidents in the United States, including a deadly attack in New Orleans and a Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas.
In the New Orleans attack, a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar plowed into a crowd, killing 15 people. Authorities labeled it an act of terrorism, citing Jabbar’s possession of an ISIS flag and explosive devices. Meanwhile, the Las Vegas explosion claimed one life and injured seven others, with investigators probing potential connections between the two events.
US President Joe Biden addressed the violence, stating, “Law enforcement and the intelligence community are investigating these incidents to ensure there is no ongoing threat to the American people.” Both vehicles used in the attacks were rented from the car-sharing platform Turo, which has prompted further scrutiny.
