MLB rumors: Latest news from Winter Meetings, live updates as Yankees, others move on after Juan Soto deal
MLB’s Winter Meetings are underway this week in Dallas at the Hilton Anatole hotel. The Winter Meetings, which will wrap up by the end of the day Thursday, are typically the busiest days of the offseason, with loads of rumors, trades and free-agent signings as the baseball world convenes in one city. Monday was relatively quiet, but things have picked up in the last 48 hours. Both the Yankees (signing Max Fried to an eight-year deal) and the Red Sox (acquiring White Sox ace Garrett Crochet in a trade) have made substantial moves for left-handed starters.
Rumors have also been flying about free agents like Alex Bregman and Corbin Burnes, while Nolan Arenado, Cody Bellinger and Kyle Tucker are drawing interest on the trade market.
The most-anticipated move of the offseason, however, came right before the Winter Meetings really got underway. Juan Soto agreed to a record 15-year, $765 million deal with the Mets on a contract that includes no deferrals and is the longest and richest pact in baseball history. Its ripple effects are being felt this week.
