MSG-YES venture launching Gotham Sports App before NBA, NHL seasons

New York sports fans who want a one-stop shop for all things hoops and hockey will get exactly that in time for the new NBA and NHL seasons.

Gotham Advanced Media and Entertainment (GAME), the 50/50 joint digital venture between MSG Networks and YES Network that was revealed in January, announced Wednesday that it will be launching The Gotham Sports App this fall before the NBA and NHL begin their 2024-25 seasons, bringing MSG+ and the YES app together — as was speculated when GAME was formed.

That means one app will now house Knicks, Nets, Rangers, Islanders, Devils, Sabres and Yankees games.

Fans within the regional coverage area who already subscribe to MSG and YES through their pay TV service can access The Gotham Sports App at no additional cost.

Fans without a traditional TV subscription can still subscribe to only MSG+ or YES through the new Gotham Sports App, but there are savings for subscribing to the combined package.

An annual subscription for the combined Gotham package that includes both the MSG+ and YES apps will cost $359.99, while a monthly subscription will cost $41.99.

A subscription for just MSG+ within the Gotham Sports App will cost $279.99 annually or $29.99 monthly, with individual gamepasses available for $9.99.

A YES subscription within the Gotham Sports App will cost $239.99 annually or $24.99 monthly.

The current MSG+ and YES apps will sunset once the Gotham Sports App launches.

Game broadcasts on The Gotham Sports App will feature an advanced live stats package, free real-time games and a loyalty program with rewards points.

YES Network and MSG Network have partnered to create Gotham Advanced Media and Entertainment.

“We are excited through GAME to bring New York area fans their favorite teams in one state-of-the-art app,” MSG Networks president and CEO Andrea Greenberg said in a release. “With the increased fragmentation of outlets carrying fan favorite sports programming, The Gotham Sports App allows fans of our teams one easy access point for New York area sporting events from MSG Networks and the YES Network.”

The NHL season begins Oct. 4 with the Devils-Sabres Global Series in Prague, while the NBA season tips off Oct. 22.
