NBA legend Carmelo Anthony’s son shares admission about his iconic father
NBA icon Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan gave an honest assessment of his basketball career.
The 17-year-old gave plenty of credit to his 10-time NBA All-Star of a father.
It’s safe to say Carmelo and Kiyan have a close relationship.
The pair are often seen together at basketball events and games.
During a YouTube video by Rival Videos called One-on-one with Kiyan Anthony, the younger Anthony appeared at the USA Basketball junior minicamp in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He revealed how helpful his New York Knicks legend father has been in his basketball path.
“I feel like now that he retired, he really dedicated basically his life to just supporting me and coming to all of my trips, all of my basketball stuff, even if it’s not basketball, he’s still there, so I’m forever grateful for that,” Kiyan said.
“Then he just always keeps me in the gym, he makes sure that my mind doesn’t go anywhere else, so I feel like without him I don’t know if I would be back invited in this camp.”
The camp began on October 11 and invited 76 of the best high school basketball players to showcase their skills with NBA scouts and executives in attendance.
Kiyan is the No. 34 prospect in the US, the No. 6 shooting guard in the country, and ranked No. 1 overall in New York.
The four-star recruit will be getting ready to play in his senior year in high school.
Kiyan has previously revealed that he will decide on his collegiate career in November.
Earlier in the month, it was reported that he is down to Auburn, USC, and Syracuse, where his father played in college.
Before his NBA career, Carmelo led the Orange to the 2003 national championship as a freshman.
He has since donated a massive amount of money to Syracuse’s basketball facility, which now bears his name.
Recently, Kiyan was seen practicing basketball alongside NBA star Paul George.
Carmelo spoke about his son getting to train with the nine-time All-Star.
“Man we made it happen, big shout out to PG, [he’s his] favorite player so let’s get them in the gym and really show them how to really work at that level,” he said.
Kiyan’s mission to become an NBA player comes after witnessing his friend Bronny James reach the professional league.
Bronny will be playing with his father, LeBron James, who is a dear friend of Carmelo’s.
The duo has a chance to be the first NBA father-son duo in history.
