The 2024-2025 NBA season kicks off on Tuesday, October 22. View the national TV schedule for the NBA’s Opening Week.

Celtics Raise Banner 18 On Opening Night

The NBA season starts in Boston as the Celtics raise their 18th championship banner before their game against the New York Knicks. The game will be on TNT at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The Celtics are coming off a dominating postseason run, going 16-3 in the playoffs.

Boston returns its entire starting lineup, including Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. However, Kristaps Porzingis will miss opening night as he recovers from surgery for a torn retinaculum and dislocated posterior tibialis tendon. Porzingis is targeting a December return.

The Knicks retooled their roster after acquiring Karl-Anthony Towns in a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves. By trading for Towns, the Knicks sent Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to Minnesota.

History should be made in Tuesday’s game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron James and Bronny James will become the first father-son duo to play in an NBA game. Per Shams Charania, expect the move to play Bronny alongside LeBron early in the game.

When the Sixers play the Bucks on Wednesday night, they will be without Joel Embiid and Paul George. Embiid is ramping up and will not play in any games this week due to knee management.

George, who suffered a knee bone bruise in the preseason, will be re-evaluated later this week.
