South Africa enter Saturday’s fixture not only high on confidence following their victory over Sri Lanka earlier this week, but also hoping to exact revenge against the Dutchmen, who have been a thorn in the flesh for the Proteas in recent World Cup meetings.

Netherlands, after all, had dashed South Africa’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the last T20 World Cup, handing them a 13-run loss while defending a score of 158 in Adelaide. As a result of the defeat, Pakistan beat the South Africans to the second spot in Group 2 during the Super 12s stage.

A year later at Dharamsala’s picturesque HPCA Stadium, the Scott Edwards-led Dutch side would bowl South Africa out for 207 to register a memorable 38-run victory and defeat the Proteas for a second time in as many World Cup meetings.

On Saturday, Edwards and company will aim to make it three-nil in recent head-to-head meetings. The two teams currently have a 1-1 record in T20I meetings, while the Proteas enjoy a 6-1 lead in ODIs.

Both teams began their T20 World Cup campaign with a victory. While South Africa handed Sri Lanka a six-wicket thrashing in New York after bowling them out for a paltry 77, Netherlands handed Nepal a defeat of a similar margin in Dallas while chasing 107.
