New Orleans Pelicans vs New York Knicks Prediction, Odds and Picks

The Pelicans’ ship has been sinking for quite some time now and it has almost hit rock bottom. They just lost their 7th game in a row 120-109 to the Grizzlies, right now they’re 4-16 SU and 1-9 SU in road games. Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, Herbert Jones, Jose Alvarado and Jordan Hawkins are all out with injuries. Similarly to the Philadelphia 76ers out East, the Pelicans have had the worst injury luck this season in the NBA. However, they have played the Knicks well lately winning 4 of the last 5 meetings and covering the spread in 4 of the last 6. They head into this game as double-digit underdogs, so the question is do we trust the inconsistent Knicks to get the job done here?

New York just barely beat a Charlotte Hornets team on the road 99-98, in a game in which they were double-digit favorites. This team just ended a 5-game road trip, so it could take them a quarter or two of this game to settle in a bit. Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns have done their part offensively this season, the spotlight has been on Mikal Bridges for his poor play so far. The Knicks really struggle at defending the three-ball this year, ranking just 26th in opponent percentage. Although the Pelicans have connected on single digit threes 3 times in 5 games, they too can get hot if the Knicks aren’t on alert here.

Not much is going right for the Pels at the moment, but catching the Knicks in their first game after a long road trip could allow them to keep things somewhat close here. This team has been a punching bag for opponents for quite some time now, look for them to step up their game at MSG on Sunday and surprise the Knicks. I’ll back the road team to cover in this one.

Pelicans +12 is available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
