New York business lights ‘Vote for Trump’ sign despite pushback from local mayor

A New York State businessman lit a pro-Trump sign Monday encouraging people to vote for the former president in November.

Anthony Constantino, CEO of Sticker Mule, turned on the electronic campaign sign that sits atop the business’ Amsterdam, New York, office during a ceremony.

Constantino said he lit the sign, which reads “Vote for Trump” in letters CBS 6 Albany reportsare visible from a nearby interstate, despite opposition from Amsterdam officials.

“Based on what’s been happening recently, I hate to say it, but New York has a problem with stupid politicians,” he said.

Constantino added that Amsterdam Mayor Michael Cinquanti is one of those politicians, claiming Cinquanti issued a restraining order to demand he take down the sign.

“Up until an hour ago, I was doing interviews, and I honestly didn’t know what was gonna happen tonight,” Constantino continued. “I spent my day, to my surprise, talking to friends and family and UFC superstars asking what to do. To my surprise, they all said, ‘Go for it. Light the sign and spend a few days in jail.’”

UFC fighters Kelvin Gastelum and Tracy Cortez delivered speeches earlier at the ceremony. Another speaker, an attorney named Sal Ferlazzo, helped prepare Constantino to light the sign, according to the businessman.

“Luckily, my incredible attorney saved my a**. At the last moment, he fixed everything,” Constantino said. “I’m not going to jail, and we’re gonna light the sign.”

“He saved my a**. He saved the sign. He saved the event,” the businessman added.

Constantino explained that the sign, which replaced one for the building’s former tenants, the Fownes Brothers glove company, represents an underdog victory.

“Given everything happening in the world today, we decided to replace it with an equally iconic and symbolic sign that represents the return of manufacturing jobs to America and the triumph of the underdog against all adversity,” he said.

Cinquanti did not return The National News Desk’s request to confirm whether he issued a restraining order.
