New York Giants: Former First-Round NFL Draft Pick Biggest Question Entering The 2024 Season – Gridiron Heroics

Since winning Super Bowl XLVI, the New York Giants have only made the postseason twice. Their lone playoff win since that year was against the Minnesota Vikings during the 2022-2023 season. They were 9-7-1 that season when they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Round.

Last season, the New York Giants took a step backward with a 6-11 record. It could have been worse than that, but thankfully it was not. This roster has some flaws that they are still trying to figure out before this season starts.

This will be a huge year for the New York Giants because they are trying to close the gap with the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. New York has not won the NFC East title since the 2011 season. The division has had a different division winner for 19 straight seasons.

Bleacher Report Ryan Fowler Questions the Quarterback Play For the New York Giants Entering the 2024 Season

To no surprise, many people have questioned what the New York Giants are doing at the quarterback position entering the 2024 season. Daniel Jones is in line to be the starter. They signed Drew Lock this offseason to compete with Jones, but Lock didn’t show much promise during OTAs or mandatory minicamps either.

Tommy DeVito, who was a fan favorite a season ago, is looking to occupy one of the roster spots for the New York Giants this season. Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report questions about the New York Giants quarterback situation entering the 2024 season. Fowler said:

Daniel Jones signed a four-year, $160 million extension with the New York Giants in March 2023, but questions continue to swirl about his future in the Big Apple. The Giants can cut or trade Jones next offseason and save $19.4 million in cap space.

While Jones has shown flashes in his five seasons at the helm, injuries and a lack of consistent production have stopped him from cementing himself as the Giants’ long-term answer under center.

The G-Men passed on drafting Jones’ potential successor with the No. 6 overall pick in this year’s draft, which raised questions about their plan under center moving forward. The Giants came back to earth last fall after a surprising playoff berth in 2022.

While the Giants have remained steadfast in their support of Jones, it’s difficult to envision them reaching their ceiling as long as he holds the keys to the offense. Rather than take a quarterback, they spent the No. 6 overall pick on wide receiver Malik Nabers, but the electric playmaker’s success will directly depend on the quarterback position.”

It will be interesting to see how well Daniel Jones plays this season for the New York Giants. If he does not get off to a good start this year, head coach Brian Daboll might make a change at quarterback and go with Drew Lock.

General manager Joe Schoen tried to move up for a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft, but that plan did not come to fruition. Daniel Jones will have to be better than throwing for 909 yards, two touchdowns, and six interceptions this year if the New York Giants offense wants to go anywhere.
