New York Giants have potential star in former Day 2 pick, per NFL analyst | Sporting News

Much of the attention surrounding the New York Giants right now involves the arrival of rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers.

While Nabers has a strong chance to enter NFL stardom right away, there’s another name in the wide receiver room that one NFL analyst believes also has a chance to be a potential star.

Entering his third season, Wan’Dale Robinson was the choice for the Giants from Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports.

“After quietly logging an impressive 76.1% catch rate over his first two NFL seasons, the third-year slot target is primed for even more opportunities, thanks to the addition of the explosive Malik Nabers out wide. With or without Daniel Jones under center, his numbers should be on the rise,” Benjamin wrote.

Robinson has been a productive asset in Brian Daboll’s offense since he was taken in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft. The Kentucky product has proven to be a reliable, shifty option from the slot.

The third-year receiver is likely flying under the radar due to the torn ACL that ended his rookie season prematurely. Even in that game, Robinson had nine receptions for 100 yards before exiting due to injury.

Robinson then missed the first two games of the 2023 season as he continued to work his way back. He showed a lot of promise once he was fully healed, registering 31 receptions for 321 yards during the final six games.

That’s a decent 17-game pace of 75 receptions and 780 yards, which is saying something considering the state of the Giants offense during the second half of the season.

Naturally, it will be difficult for Robinson to become a true star with Nabers now arriving in East Rutherford, but the former is certainly flying under the radar.
