New York Giants predicted to land dual-threat quarterback in 2025 NFL draft | Sporting News

The New York Giants are looking to weather the storm over the final two months of the NFL season before entering the quarterback market once again.

Following the benching and subsequent release of starter Daniel Jones last week, the Giants are going to be linked to just about every available quarterback throughout the upcoming offseason.

While adding a veteran signal-caller as a bridge option could be in the cards, the Giants are very likely to target a prospect in the 2025 NFL draft considering where they currently sit in the order.

One option the Giants could consider is Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, according to Matt Holder of Bleacher Report.

“Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, while not an overly polished prospect, might plug right into Brian Daboll’s offense as a dual-threat quarterback,” Holder wrote. “Milroe might need to spend some time on the bench before taking over the offense, which is why adding a veteran like (Andy) Dalton ahead of the draft would be wise.”

Whether Daboll will return as the head coach remains to be seen. Early reports indicate John Mara doesn’t want to continue the cycle of hiring a new head coach every two or three years, but it’s difficult to see him returning if he loses the locker room.

Milroe will be a fascinating discussion during the offseason. His dual-threat ability will make him an intriguing option with upside, but the inconsistency he’s shown during this season makes him far from a lock to succeed in the NFL.

A two-year starter, Milroe has completed 65% of his passes for 2,396 yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 11 games this season. He’s also added 135 carries for 615 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns.

The Giants will indeed be in the market for a quarterback so this won’t be the final time they’re linked to Milroe throughout the offseason.
