The New York Giants released quarterback Nathan Rourke, head coach Brian Daboll announced Sunday.
Rourke was claimed by the Giants in May after he was waived by the New England Patriots following the 2024 NFL Draft.
Rourke served as the fourth quarterback on the depth chart behind Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito. However, he didn’t log any reps at all during team drills through the first week of training camp.
With Jones fully healthy and taking all of the first-team reps, it seems the Giants want to use Rourke’s vacant spot for some depth at other positions.
Rourke spent two seasons in the CFL (2021-2022) before joining the Jacksonville Jaguars (2023) and Patriots (2023). He has never logged an NFL snap.
