New York Giants reveal plan for starters in preseason finale | Sporting News
The New York Giants will wrap up the preseason Saturday night with their typical matchup against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.
After the two teams competed in a joint practice Wednesday at Florham Park, the Jets decided not to play their starters for the finale.
Likewise, the Giants won’t be playing the majority of their starters during the preseason finale, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.
Even after the shaky outing the starting offense gave during the second preseason game against the Houston Texans, the Giants aren’t going to risk injury with the season so close.
What’s interesting is that with Daniel Jones unlikely to play and Drew Lock being in an emergency role again due to an oblique injury, there’s a good chance Tommy DeVito will play the entire game.
It’s also unclear whether the Giants will give rookie Malik Nabers any run in the finale after he started the first two preseason games.
The Giants and Jets are set for kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
