The New York Giants saw Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward put on a show Saturday afternoon in a thrilling loss against the Syracuse Orange.
While the Hurricanes got upset on the road, 42-38, Ward put together another strong outing that proves he should be in the conversation to be the top quarterback taken in the draft.
According to Ashley Wenskoski of CNY Central, the Giants were among the teams that sent scouts to the game.
Ward should be in the conversation for the Giants regardless of who is running the front office. Whether it’s Joe Schoen and the current regime or a new group entirely, Ward should be among the top prospects available.
Dame Parson of Bleacher Report has Ward as his QB1 ahead of the pre-draft process.
“In conclusion, Cam Ward is among the most gifted throwers in the NFL draft class. The combination of arm talent, mobility/athleticism, and accuracy is growing among NFL scouts. He is comfortable using hard counts to force the defense out of their disguises, then set the protection to pick up any indicating extra rushers from the second or third levels of the defense. He has superstar potential if he can cut down on mistakes/risky decisions,” Parson wrote.
The Giants will be linked to just about every quarterback throughout the offseason, but Ward is among the options that likely brings the most optimism.
In 12 games this season, Ward has completed 67.4% of his passes for 4,123 yards, 36 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
