New York Giants sign 15 players to practice squad, including several veterans | Sporting News

The New York Giants have laid the foundation for the practice squad ahead of the 2024 season.

Following waiver claims on Wednesday, the Giants announced the initial signing of 15 players to the practice squad, which includes a handful of veterans.

There are several familiar faces joining the practice squad to begin the season along with one new addition.

Here’s a look at the 15 players the Giants signed to the practice squad Wednesday:

  • WR Isaiah Hodgins
  • WR Miles Boykin
  • TE Lawrence Cager
  • FB Jakob Johnson
  •  OT Joshua Miles
  • OT Marcellus Johnson
  • OLB Tomon Fox
  • LB K.J. Cloyd
  • RB Dante Miller
  • DT Casey Rogers
  • DB Raheem Layne
  • DB Alex Johnson
  • C Jimmy Morrissey
  • K Jude McAtamney
  • LB Ty Summers

The new addition to the practice squad is Summers — a veteran who has seen action in 67 regular-season games with the Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints and Jacksonville Jaguars. He was released by the Detroit Lions during roster cuts.

The Giants also get an international exemption for McAtamney so they have two spots available on the practice squad as long as he doesn’t get called up to the active roster.

The Giants are permitted up to six veterans on the practice squad. According to the transaction wire, that includes Hodgins, Boykin, Cager, Johnson, Miles and Summers among the initial signings.
