The New York Giants waived undrafted rookie free agent running back Dante Miller ahead of Tuesday’s deadline to trim the roster down to 53 players.
“Turbo” was a preseason standout for the Giants, showing off some electric speed out of the backfield. At one point, it seemed he may have played his way into one of the final roster spots.
However, a hamstring injury late in the preseason likely kept him from making that final push.
The news was first reported by Dan Duggan of The Athletic on Tuesday morning.

Miller figures to find himself on the Giants practice squad if he clears waivers, which go through Wednesday at noon ET.
With Devin Singletary entrenched as the starter along with fifth-round pick Tyrone Tracy Jr. and second-year back Eric Gray also standing out during the preseason, it was going to be difficult for Miller to make the squad.
That didn’t stop him from taking 26 carries for 102 rushing yards over the course of three preseason games.
Miller is an intriguing talent and likely to return to the practice squad if he clears waivers, but it simply became a numbers game for the undrafted rookie.
