New York is the only U.S. city in this ranking of top destinations in the world for 2025
New Yorkers don’t really need to be told that we live in one of the best places in the world, but it is kind of satisfying to know that everyone else thinks it, too.
Our very own was, in fact, just named one of the top destinations in the world for 2025—and the only U.S. city to make the top ten.
Landing at number six, the Big Apple beat out other top towns like Amsterdam, Sydney, Barcelona and, yes, even London, which didn’t even break the top 10 this year.

The new ranking by analytics company Euromonitor International took several factors into account, including tourism data, sustainability efforts, economic performance, health and safety measures.
While many top cities moved down the list throughout the past few years, New York moved up four spots since 2022. We can likely thank our improving infrastructure for that, including the newly revamped LaGuardia Airport and Grand Central Madison, or our unparalleled, blossoming food scene. Whatever the reason, we’re definitely on the come-up.
Paris took the number one spot, and for good reason: the French capital hosted the summer Olympics this year and recently celebrated the reopening of a new and improved version of the Notre Dame Cathedral five years after a massive fire nearly burned it down.
Madrid came in second place, followed by Tokyo in third. When looking at the U.S. specifically, the highest ranked city after New York was Los Angeles at position number 18.
