New York Islanders Reassign Samuel Bolduc To Bridgeport

The New York Islanders have reassigned defenseman Samuel Bolduc to the Bridgeport Islanders, the team announced Monday.

Drafted by the Islanders in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft, Bolduc has appeared in games for both New York and Bridgeport this season. Although he went pointless in his lone NHL appearance this season, Bolduc has one goal and five points in nine games for Bridgeport.

A product of Laval, Que., Bolduc turned pro in 2020 and has since played in 52 career NHL regular season games, putting up four goals and eight points. Prior to turning pro, Bolduc played his junior hockey with the QMJHL’s Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and the Sherbrooke Phoenix.

When Bolduc has drawn into New York’s lineup in the past, he has looked efficient but he drew criticism from head coach Patrick Roy in his most recent game.

“It’s sad. Those things happen, but Sam [Bolduc] needs to be better if he wants to play in the NHL,” Roy said postgame to THN’s Stefen Rosner. “He’s got to understand [that] and step up. He’s a good hockey player. He’s got all the tools. Now, he just needs to figure it out. But he needs to be better if he wants to play for us.”
