New York Jets News: Aaron Rodgers makes incredible offer to Jets rookie

Good morning Gang Green Nation! Jets rookie 5th round draft pick quarterback Jordan Travis was asked this weekend whether he envisioned eventually replacing Aaron Rodgers as the Jets’ starting quarterback. Travis responded that he thought about that a lot, but he is currently focused on rehabbing and being a great teammate. Of course the odds are stacked against any fifth round pick having a successful career as a starting NFL quarterback. Nonetheless, it was a perfect answer to the question. No matter how long the odds may be, the player has to have confidence in himself. If he doesn’t believe it’s possible, then he’s already sealed his own fate. At the same time, Travis is correct that his current job is primarily to have a successful recovery from a serious injury and be the best teammate he can be. Travis is unlikely to ever become a long term answer as the Jets starting quarterback, but he is off to a nice start in at least saying the right things. The rest is up to him and the Jets in trying to develop Travis to the point he has a decent shot at achieving the unlikely starting role he thinks about a lot.
