New York Jets News: Breece Hall makes bold claim about Jets offense

Good morning Gang Green Nation! CBS Sports has an article listing the biggest roster hole or question mark for every NFL team in 2024. For the Jets this is what they said:

The Jets are just counting on guys like Aaron Rodgers, Tyron Smith and Mike Williams to stay healthy. None of those things feels like a safe bet, let alone all three of them.

This feels like a half-truth. I think we all know Tyron Smith’s long history of never having played a full season since 2015. I think we all expect he will miss time in 2024. The question is how much time, and when?

Mike Williams is coming off a torn ACL which cost him all but three games last year. However, before last year Williams had never missed more than four games in any season in his career. Prior to last year Williams missed a grand total of 10 games in five years. I think it’s fair to say his reputation for being injury-prone is a bit overblown. On the other hand, an ACL injury at age 30 is not the easiest thing for a wide receiver to come back from. Concerns regarding Williams’ ability to fully recover, and how long that might take, are legit. Concerns that he is a guy who is always injured aren’t.

Then we have the case of Aaron Rodgers. As we know, Rodgers missed virtually the entire season last year after he suffered a torn achilles tendon after just four snaps. It was a devastating blow. We can’t be entirely sure how Rodgers will do in recovery. That’s a legit concern. However, I’m seeing a lot of “analysis” suggesting it’s only a matter of time before Rodgers goes down with another serious injury. That, it seems to me, is a much shakier claim. Prior to last year Rodgers had missed no more than one game a year in eight of his last nine seasons. Doesn’t sound like an injury-prone player to me. Like Williams, if you’re unsure how well Rodgers will come back from his previous injury, that makes a lot of sense to me. If you’re concerned because future serious injuries to Rodgers seem likely, well, you lost me there.
