New York Jets News: Robert Saleh gets more involved with offense
Good morning Gang Green Nation! Pro Football Focus has named Jets cornerback DJ Reed as the team’s most underrated player. That seems like as good a choice as any. Since signing with the New York Jets as an unrestricted free agent a couple of years ago, Reed has been superb playing Robin to Sauce Gardner’s Batman in what has developed into the NFL’s best cornerback group. The outstanding play of the Jets cornerbacks has been a big reason for the Jets’ defense’s rise to the upper echelons of NFL defenses over the past couple of years. Unfortunately, things are always changing and evolving in the NFL, and this season may well be the last go-around for the Jets’ great cornerback group. Reed and slot cornerback Michael Carter will be unrestricted free agents next year, and Sauce Gardner will be eligible for a massive contract extension. The Jets are unlikely to extend all three cornerbacks, so something has to give. The most likely scenario has Reed being the odd man out. If so, then enjoy watching him while it lasts. This may be the last we see of the sublime DJ Reed in a Jets uniform.
