New York Jets: Quinnen Williams ranked as top 3 defensive tackle by PFF

As part of the lead-up to the 2024 NFL season, Pro Football Focus has been releasing their position rankings. One of the highest rankings received by a New York Jet was among the defensive tackles, where Quinnen Williams ranked #3.

Specifically, they rated Quinnen behind Kansas City Chiefs Chris Jones and New York Giants Dexter Lawrence. This feels both debatable and justifiable to me, so the ranking is probably adequate

In their larger writeup about Williams, they wrote:

One of the most disruptive defensive tackles in football, Williams has been a game-wrecker since breaking out in 2022. Over the past two seasons, only Lawrence and Jones have more total pressures than his 122, and he has 74 defensive stops over that time, as well.

Williams has put together back-to-back seasons with a 90.0-plus PFF grade.

Overall, Williams is a great interior lineman who is among the league’s best. Perhaps notable though is that Williams is the only Jet on this list, which says a lot about their general depth at the position. This positions Williams as one of the New York Jets’ most important pieces in 2024 and a player who will need to succeed at an individual level if the defense is to succeed at a unit level.
