New York Knicks Can Challenge For the No. 1 Seed in the Eastern Conference Next Season, Per 4-Time NBA Champion

The New York Knicks have significantly revamped their roster, drawing high expectations ahead of the 2024–25 campaign.

According to Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, the New York Knicks should be considered contenders this upcoming season because of how their roster is currently constructed.

“I’ll tell you now, I don’t want to see (the New York Knicks) in the regular season because they are going to play harder than nobody’s tomorrow,” Green said on his podcast. “By the way, defensively, that team is going to be tough. Playing against a team like that during the regular season when you really don’t have time to prepare and then you go up against that defense, that’s going to be hard.”

“It would not shock me if they get the number-one seed,” the four-time NBA champion emphasized.

Chemistry will not be a problem for New York because Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo, and Mikal Bridges played together in college for Villanova. They also have OG Anunoby, Julius Randle, and Mitchell Robinson, among others, to make Tom Thibodeau’s playstyle work.

The New York Knicks are expected to contend in the Eastern Conference next season, alongside the Philadelphia 76ers and the defending champions, the Boston Celtics. After back-to-back trips to the second round, New York should at least make it to the Eastern Conference Finals this upcoming season.
