Pace baseball alum Brandon Sproat’s rise through the New York Mets’ organization is continuing.

A little more than three weeks after being named to the National League Futures team at the MLB All-Star Weekend, Sproat was promoted to Triple-A Syracuse, also known as the Mets, on Monday after a stellar beginning to his professional career.

Sproat hasn’t spent long wherever he goes after showing off his fiery fastball at just about every level he’s been at ever since graduating from Florida in 2023. In 11 appearances with Double-A Binghamton, Sproat posted a 4-1 win-loss record with an earned-runs against average of 2.45.

He recorded 77 strikeouts in just 62 1/3 innings of work with the Rumble Poines, surrendering 17 earned runs (allowing no unearned runs in the process). His opposition was batting just a .181 average.

The move to Syracuse comes just after Sproat struck out 11 consecutive hitters during his start on Friday with Binghamton, something that’s never been done in MLB history. This past weekend, Sproat was named the Minor League Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

“If he continues pitching this way over his first few outings in Triple-A, (Sproat) just might be a factor for the big league club down the stretch this season,” wrote John Flanigan for SNY.

Sproat is the 94th-ranked prospect in all of the MLB, according to MLB Pipeline. He’s the fifth-best prospect in the Mets’ system, and the top-ranked pitcher. At the Futures Game, Sproat threw 12 pitches during on inning of action, getting up to 99 MPH with his fast ball.

It’s possible that Sproat could see time in the big leagues, joining the Mets’ rotation in 2025.

Sproat is a two-time PNJ All-Area First Team selection from his days at Pace, and was an All-State team selection his senior season. In 2019, Sproat went 5-2 with a 1.53 ERA and 53 strikeouts. That was preceded by a 10-4 record with a 1.78 ERA during his junior season, when he led the Patriots to the Class 7A State Championship game.
