New York, NY – New York residents are in for a frigid Sunday, with temperatures expected to remain in the 20s throughout the day. A recent cold front has ushered in Arctic air, making travel potentially hazardous for those venturing out.

According to the National Weather Service, lingering snow early Sunday morning will taper off as skies clear. Northwest winds of 10-18 mph, with gusts up to 33 mph, will make conditions feel even colder, driving wind chills into the single digits to mid-teens. Sunday’s high will hover near 26 degrees. Residents are urged to bundle up and limit outdoor exposure.

Motorists should remain cautious, as untreated roadways may still have patches of snow and ice, particularly on elevated surfaces and bridges. Snow accumulation from Saturday evening is expected to total less than an inch. Those traveling during the morning hours should allow extra time and proceed with care.

The extended forecast shows improving conditions Monday, with sunny skies and a high near 32 degrees. However, another chance of snow showers is expected late Monday night into Tuesday. Christmas Day on Wednesday is forecast to be mostly sunny, with highs near 39, offering a brief reprieve from the chill.
