The New York State Fashion Innovation Center has announced a new series of grants aimed at enhancing the state’s farm-to-fashion ecosystem. This initiative, revealed by Governor Kathy Hochul, will offer grants of up to US $ 10,000 to support innovation in agricultural production, textile processing, and the use of sustainable materials in fashion.
The grants are designed for start-ups, small businesses, farmers, and researchers focused on textile fiber innovation. In addition to financial support, recipients will join a cohort with access to industry experts, mentoring, and specialised facilities.
Governor Hochul highlighted the importance of the fashion industry in New York, stating that it contributes over US $ 25 billion annually in wages. The Fashion Innovation Center, launched in 2022 with US $ 10 million in state funding, continues to foster smart and sustainable fashion practices through collaboration among universities, businesses, and industry leaders.
