New York State Park Opens New Course For Rare Sport

New York state has a lot of parks that have basketball, baseball, soccer and more sports on site. In New York state parks, guests can go fishing, hiking and kayaking in the majority of locations.

Disc golf, which some may refer to as frisbee golf, hasn’t been as popular as other sports within New York state until now.

I had the chance to play disc golf in a different state. When I came home, I was curious to see if anywhere in the Hudson Valley offered disc golf. At that time, there weren’t a lot of options for the Hudson Valley’s disc golf courses.

Now, disc golf is available within the Hudson Valley.

Lake Taghkanic State Park Now Offering New Disc Golf Course

Lake Taghkanic State Park is located in Columbia County, NY. They made an exciting post on social media about their grand opening.

This New York state park now offers disc golf courses. They shared,

“We are proud to announce the grand opening of our new disc golf course at Lake Taghkanic State Park! Course maps and disc rentals are available in the park office.”

Lake Taghkanic State Park also mentioned that disc rentals are only $10. This park is open from 8am until sunset.

New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation mentioned that guests can visit to play disc golf and more. On site, boats and kayaks are available to rent along with their picnic pavilion.

There’s a campground store where guests can buy firewood, snacks and more at Taghkanic State Park. Playgrounds are available on site as well as their snack and souvenir shop.
