New York Strikers-Caribbean Tigers clash to kickstart inaugural Max 60 Caribbean League

The New York Strikers are all set to take on Caribbean Tigers, in the inaugural season of the Max 60 Caribbean League, set to be held at the Jimmy Powell Oval Cricket Ground in the Cayman Islands. The Strikers Franchise with a legacy of dominating performance across international leagues like the Abu Dhabi T10, Lanka Premier League and Legends Cricket Trophy editions are keen to showcase a similar flair and enthrall the audiences in a format which is widely gaining popularity across the world.

The Strikers have assembled an influential squad that features both emerging and seasoned players. The squad boasts of some iconic names like Colin Munro, Thisara Perera (Captain), Isuru Udana, Carlos Brathwaite, Kennar Lewis and Brandon McMullen who will be seen playing alongside the likes of Angelo Perera, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Mitchell Owen, Ansh Patel, Mati Ullah Khan, Kendel Fleming, Troy Taylor, Akshay Naidoo, Alessandro Morris, Akhilesh R Bodugum and Davion Codner.

Sagar Khanna, owner of the New York Strikers, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming tournament by sharing, “We are excited about the tournament and the lineup we have assembled this season. Our team is eager to play the Caribbean Tigers and put up a great show for the fans. The participation in Max60 also marks the continuation of New York Strikers commitment to bring cricket to newer geographies of the world. We look forward to exciting few days of cricket ahead.”

Speaking about the first match Thisara Perera said, “60 ball cricket is quickly redefining the way cricket is being looked at. People prefer shorter formats and it has also given an opportunity to some of the more explosive players to play with full freedom. Representing and leading New York Strikers in a tournament like this is not only a matter of pride but also gives me an opportunity learn and adapt to new situations. We are going up against an explosive batting unit in the Caribbean Tigers and I believe it will be an exciting encounter for both the teams.”

The New York Strikers and Caribbean Tigers are scheduled to play at 9:30 PM IST on Sunday. The tournament will be streamed live on FanCode and the broadcast will be live on Sony Sports 1.
