NFL Analyst Reveals Level Of Concern For Tee Higgins Holdout

The Cincinnati Bengals have a five-alarm fire on their hands regarding star wide receiver Tee Higgins’ future.

Given that Higgins has requested a trade, and the Bengals will likely prioritize signing fellow receiver Ja’Marr Chase to a record-setting contract following deals inked by Justin Jefferson, Amon-Ra St. Brown, A.J. Brown, and others this offseason, Higgins may not feel that great about showing up in time for training camp.

Now that the Bengals allowed Tyler Boyd to walk via free agency, and ultimately sign with the Tennessee Titans, this upcoming season could prove to be Cincinnati’s last go-round with Chase and Higgins in quarterback Joe Burrow’s arsenal to mount a legitimate Super Bowl run.

Would Tee Higgins Skip Cincinnati Bengals Training Camp?

Higgins already sat out the Bengals’ mandatory minicamp, and at least one NFL analyst believes Cincinnati shouldn’t count on him to participate in training camp this summer, either.

Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton suggests that the Bengals ‘Worry Meter’ should be at a nine-out-of-ten when it comes to a possible Higgins training camp holdout.

“Though Bengals head coach Zac Taylor told reporters that he expects to work with Higgins this year,” Moton writes. “The team drafted a potential replacement in rookie third-rounder Jermaine Burton.

“Furthermore, according to ESPN’s Ben Baby, Cincinnati hasn’t engaged in contract talks with the Clemson product in over a year. Without active negotiations and the team likely to pay Chase in the coming weeks, Higgins probably isn’t going to get a new deal from the Bengals. He’ll play out the final term of his contract on the franchise tag or land elsewhere via trade at some point this year.”

Whether the Bengals trade Higgins this summer remains to be seen, but it certainly sounds as though Cincinnati should be preparing to be without the dynamic receiver for training camp, at the very least.
