NFL insider thinks Eagles should lose season finale to Giants to spoil No. 1 pick in draft

With a win on Sunday, the Eagles would clinch the NFC East, continue their path to the playoffs, and potentially earn the No. 1 seed.

Philadelphia needs the Lions and Vikings to lose a game to secure the top seed, and one NFL insider believes the Birds should plan for the future in the final two games of the year.

During Sunday’s NFL Countdown, ESPN insider Adam Schefter voiced the idea of the Eagles sitting Saquon Barkley in Week 18, moving away from his quest to pass Eric Dickerson and losing to the Giants, hurting their chances at securing the No. 1 pick in April’s NFL draft.

The Giants and Raiders are both 2-12 and New York would win a tiebreaker based on the strength of the schedule. The New England Patriots, Carolina Panthers, Tennessee Titans, and Jacksonville Jaguars are 3-11.
