NFL picks, predictions for Week 8: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New York Giants | Sporting News

In what is a meeting between two of the most storied franchises in NFL history, the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) will host the New York Giants (2-5) at Acrisure Stadium on Monday night to close out Week 8.

The Steelers are riding high following two straight wins, with one over the Las Vegas Raiders and the other over the New York Jets. Things are especially positive in the wake of the debut of quarterback Russell Wilson, who made a fantastic first impression in the 37-15 win over the Jets.

Meanwhile, things are going south for the Giants after losing three of their last four. New York got itself embarrassed last week with a 28-3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that also saw Saquon Barkley run wild.

The Giants enter this game in the cellar of the NFC East, while the Steelers are tied for first place in the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens. Here’s how experts envision this game going.

NFL picks, predictions for Week 8: Steelers vs. Giants

Vinnie Iyer, Sporting News: Steelers 24, Giants 13

Iyer: “The Giants are an offensive mess again with Daniel Jones falling into bad habits when he doesn’t have enough support from the running game. That’s a concern here on the road, but a bigger problem is the Steelers’ revamped rushing attack gashing the Giants’ front like the cross-state Eagles did. Russell Wilson will keep the momentum going and might see another former Seahawk, Drew Lock, as his counterpart at some point in the second half.”

Bill Bender, Sporting News: Steelers 24, Giants 13

Bender: “Russell Wilson proved Mike Tomlin right in Week 7. Wilson passed for 264 yards and two TDs while taking one sack, and a resurgent running game around Najee Harris should have success against the Giants. New York will stick with Daniel Jones at quarterback, but answers might be difficult to come by against a Pittsburgh defense that allows just 14.4 points per game. Look for Pittsburgh to continue building momentum as a run of AFC North games looms on the schedule.”

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports: Steelers 27, Giants 13

Prisco: “Russell Wilson gets his second start after winning his first Sunday night and he gets to face a team that is banged up and struggling. It’s the perfect opponent to keep him undefeated. The Giants have offensive issues, which the Steelers will exploit. Wilson will go to 2-0 as the Steelers roll.”
