NFL picks, predictions Week 17: Indianapolis Colts vs. New York Giants | Sporting News

The Indianapolis Colts (7-8) will make the last road trip of the 2024 NFL season to face the New York Giants (2-13).

Indianapolis’s slim playoff hopes will be erased if they don’t handle business against a New York team that currently holds the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL draft. They also need the Denver Broncos and/or the Los Angeles Chargers to lose this Saturday to give them a chance at the postseason heading into Week 18.

The Colts are eight-point road favorites against the Titans. The experts believe that Indianapolis will win this contest and most have them covering the spread.

NFL picks, predictions Week 16: Colts vs. Titans

Bill Bender, Sporting News: Colts 30, Giants 16

Bender: “The Giants have lost 10 straight games, and they are 1-9 ATS in those matchups. It’s been a rough season for Brian Daboll. Giants quarterbacks have combined for 10 TDs and 12 interceptions. The Colts have allowed 30 or more points the past two weeks, but the combination of Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor helped Indianapolis roll up 335 rushing yards last week.”

Vinnie Iyer, Sporting News: Colts 31, Giants 24

Iyer: “Jonathan Taylor was determined to go off against the Titans to make up for having that ugly non-scoring effort against the Broncos. The result was breaking 200 rushing yards and three TDs. He should want to build on that to finish strong, given he returns to his home state of New Jersey, where he was a high school star two hours south of MetLife.”

Jeremy Cluff, USA Today Sports: Colts 23, Giants 10

Cluff: “The Giants are in position to land the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft. We don’t expect that to change against the Colts.”

Matt Johnson, Sportsnaut: Colts 28, Giants 20

Johnson: “Here’s what you need to know entering this Week 17 matchup, the New York Giants have allowed 151.3 rushing yards per game, 4.9 yards per carry and 15 rushing touchdowns in the last 11 games. The Indianapolis Colts ran the football to their last win over the Tennessee Titans, same formula here.”

Ben Rolfe, Pro Football Network: Colts 23, Giants 10

Rolfe: “At first glance, this line may seem wild, but when you take into account the metrics and the motivational factors at play, it doesn’t seem that bad. However, the motivational aspect could be totally altered after Saturday’s games, as the Indianapolis Colts may not have a chance at the playoffs anymore.

The numbers tell you that the Colts are the better team, with the main advantage being offensively. Indianapolis has also played the harder schedule, further exacerbating their metrics advantage.

If you were picking this game today, knowing the Colts would still have a chance at the playoffs, then somewhere in the -7 region would be perfect. But it’s close to impossible to bet on this game ahead of time because of the impact of Saturday’s games on this one in particular.

Even if the Colts were eliminated on Saturday, you wouldn’t put it past this New York Giants team to lose by double digits to anyone with the way they are playing.”
